Jane Inman

76; Jeffersonville

— Celebration of life services for Jane Inman, 76, Jeffersonville, will be Saturday, March 29, at Scott Funeral Homes, North Chapel, Jeffersonville. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m., with a short service following. She died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at her home, among loved ones.

She was born March 9, 1938, to James and Helen Applegate, Jeffersonville. She was the best cheerleader in the history of Ingramville Elementary School, and then attended Jeffersonville High School. She and her husband L.R. started a family before she graduated but she eventually got her diploma in a legendary ceremony held at their home on Jeff Elks golf course in June 1982.

She was a great mother, grandmother, interior designer, business woman, and friend. She started the Jeanery, a successful clothing store in Jeff.  She and L.R. designed and built unique homes and condos that many love. She was a card shark and a competitor, a diehard IU fan, a music lover, and a great cook. She could throw a party and had countless friends because she cared sincerely about everyone.

She is survived by her son, Mark and he and Kathy’s two daughters, Abby and Lily. She was proud of those girls!

She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, her brother, Jay, her daughter-in-law, Kathy, and her daughter Pam. Pam died way too soon in December 1979, and we hope they are all together now. It was her ability to fight through the loss of her daughter and to forge a great life that may have been her greatest achievement.

The family would like to acknowledge the incredible and compassionate work of Alpha, Linda, Sandy, Ana, Debbie, and Marvena. The people of Amedisys Hospice were fantastic as well.

A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, at the Jeffersonville Elks.

Family asks that monetary contributions be made to the Inman Scholarship Fund for a high school girl golfer at Jeffersonville High School in care of Todd Satterly, Athletic Director.
