Marshall E. “Bud” Flora Jr.

88; of Sun City Center, Fla.

A memorial service for Marshall E. “Bud” Flora Jr., 88, of Sun City Center, Fla., will be at noon Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany. Bud chose the dignity of cremation and will be interred at Cave Hill Cemetery at a later date. He died Oct. 30, 2012, in Sun City Center, Fla.

 The son of the late Gertrude (Keilman) and Marshall E. Flora Sr., he was born Dec. 8, 1923. Bud, born and raised in New Albany, moved to Florida in 1985 after retiring from Colgate Palmolive with 38 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific and was in Japan at the time the treaty was signed. He was an avid golfer, belonged to local dance clubs, enjoyed traveling and loved his many friends. In later years, health problems did not allow him to continue the activities, but friends and family remained foremost in his thoughts.   

Survivors include his wife, Anna Flora; son, Gregory Flora and his wife Cyndi, of    Marietta, Ga.;  daughter, Jacqueline Deuser, of New Albany; grandchildren, Scott Striegel, of Louisville, and Laurie Striegel, of New Albany; great-grandsons, Mason A., Brian and Christian Coomer and Jordan O’Neal

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; daughter, Marsha Striegel; grandson, Todd Striegel; and granddaughter, Gina Brian. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
