62; of Jeffersonville

— Funeral services for Gabriel K. Appiah, 62, of Jeffersonville, will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Scott Funeral Home, with burial at a later date in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Ghana, West Africa, worked as a chemist, was an active member of the NRA where he taught gun safety, was a member of the Christian Family Worship Center and previously worked for DeHart Paint Company.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Hilda Kendrick-Appiah, of Jeffersonville; a sister, Mary Ampofowaah, of Ghana; four brothers, Ben Appiah, Clement Appiah, Pheophilus Appiah and Kwaku Appiah, all of Ghana; mother-in-law, Marie Kendrick, of Jeffersonville; sister-in-law, Wanda Booker and her husband Benjamin, of Charlestown; brother-in-law, John Kendrick and his wife Anna, of Arlington, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agya and Adwona Appiah; and his father-in-law, John M. Kendrick.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Family Worship Center.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
