Marvin Ray Walters, 84; of Charlestown


— Funeral services for Marvin Ray Walters, 84, of Charlestown, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Harlan County, Ky., to George and Thelma Castle Walters. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a retired woodworker. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, V.F.W. and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Virginia Willis Walters; a daughter, Rosemary Bradnan and her husband, William, of Hilton Head, S.C.; son, Tom Walters and his wife, Chilita, of Charlestown; brothers, Wayne Walters and his wife, Polly, of Sellersburg, Allen Walters, of Jeffersonville, and Mike Walters and his wife, Brenda, of Memphis; sisters, Georgia Hall and Shirley Zollman and her husband, Ray, both of Scottsburg, Pauline May and her husband, Paul, of Jeffersonville, and Janet May, of Otisco; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Maxine Walters.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
