John “Jack” T. Hayden, 78; of Jeffersonville

Funeral services for John “Jack” T. Hayden, 78, of Jeffersonville, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died at his home on Friday, June 28, 2013, surrounded by his family. 

Jack was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Louisville. He graduated from Flaget High School in 1953 and attended Bellarmine College, where he played basketball. He later retired as a general manager from United Technologies, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rosemary Ellis Hayden; four children, Missy Hale and her husband, Jim, of Marietta, Ga., Mark Hayden and his wife, Denise, of Wilder, Ky., Matthew Hayden and his wife, Diana, of Louisville, and Mary Lyle and her husband, Darren, of Jeffersonville; 12 grandchildren, Sarah Brady and her husband, Christopher, Jason Hale and his wife, Ashley, David Hale and his wife, Emily, John Hayden, Ryan Hayden, Chad Hayden, Sam Hayden, Myra Hayden, Andrew Hayden, Jonathan Lyle and his wife, Lacy, Rebecca Lyle and Jacob Lyle; and two great-grandchildren, Crow Hale and Ellis Anne Brady. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Virginia Savage Hayden; and a brother, James Hayden. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Scott Funeral Homes, North Chapel, Jeffersonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Flaget Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
