— Funeral services for Clarence W. “C.W.” Thomas Jr., 61, of Henryville, at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at Safe Harbor Christian Church, Memphis, with burial to follow at Bowery Cemetery. A lifetime resident of Henryville, he died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville.
He was born May 29, 1951, in Scottsburg, at the former Nappers Hospital to the son of Clarence William Thomas Sr. and Edith Catherine (Crawford) Thomas. On March 10, 1990, in Memphis, he married Edna (Bixler) Thomas who survives in Henryville.
C.W. was a 1969 Henryville High School graduate. He was employed at S Rock Cement plant in Speed in production, and was also the former owner of Southside Inn Restaurant. He was a member of Blue Lick Christian Church and attended Safe Harbor Christian Church. He was a member of the NRA, the American Legion in Sellersburg and was a former member of the Moose Lodge, also in Sellersburg.
C.W. had a lifelong passion of making and shooting fireworks, attending firework conventions, liked race cars and attending the Grand Nationals every year in Indianapolis, loved participating in turkey shoots with Zachary and spending the weekend with him. It was very important that his grandchildren, Zachary and Abby, attend college.
Other survivors include two daughters, Pamela “P.D.” (Kenny Lynch) Napier, of Henryville, and Stephanie Dawn Napier, of New Albany; two grandchildren, Zachary R. Lynch, of Henryville, and Abby M. Lynch, of Henryville; a sister, Diane (Tim) McCartin, of New Albany; and his faithful companion, Sophie.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Homes and Crematory in Henryville and after noon Friday at church.
