Russell “Russ” Vernon Wilson Sr., 82; Jeffersonville

A celebration of life for Russell “Russ” Vernon Wilson Sr., 82, Jeffersonville will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29,  at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Sellersburg Cemetery.  He died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital. 

 He was born on Sept. 19, 1931, to the late Homer and Viola Wilson in Guthrie, Okla. He was an Army 82nd Airborne veteran of the Korean War. He founded and co-owned Wilson Travel Agency where he and Ruth traveled to more than 200 countries with many loyal and devoted friends.  

He is survived by his loving “trophy wife” of 61 years, Ruth Wilson; a daughter, Lynda Wilson; a son, Russell “Rusty” Wilson Jr.; a brother, Revis Wilson; two sisters, Jean Logan and her husband William, and Shirlene Crewes and her husband, Clarence; six grandchildren, R. Shawn Hensler and his wife, Melinda, Chad (Sunny Neathamer) Dimmitt, Lauren Dimmitt, Kristina Johnson and her husband, Jeff, Brian Wilson and Travis Wilson; and five great-grandchildren, Alaric, Garrett, Clayton, Noelle and Hunter. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raygene Wilson and Raymond Wilson; and a sister, Fran Barger.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
