Carol W. Atz, 69; Floyds Knobs

— A celebration of life service for Carol W. Atz, 69, Floyds Knobs, will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at New Albany High School. She died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at her home.

  She was born May 5, 1944 in Crawford County, to the late Marion and Naomi Ridge Watson. She spent more than 44 years in the New Albany-Floyd County School system as a teacher, principal, and was currently the Director of Human Resources. She had a great love of teaching and serving the staff of NAFCS. she was a devoted and generous mother, sister, and friend. She treasured her grandchildren more than life itself.  

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jamey and Wes Evans; granddaughters, Amadea and Abriella Evans; sisters, Iris Meier, Shirley McCoy, and Joyce Dehn; and brother, David Watson.                

She was preceded in death by husband, Claiborne Walton, and her sister, Ina Reader.  

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at  Kraft Funeral Service,  Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, and from 3:30 to  5 p.m. Thursday at New Albany High School.
