Fredrick T. “Buck” Buchanan 83; of New Albany

Funeral service with military honors for Fredrick T. “Buck” Buchanan, 83, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with private burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany.

 He was born Aug. 17, 1929, to the late Isaac and Viola Buchanan in Crawford County. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and  retired from Ford Motor Company in Louisville. He was a member of St. Marks United Church of Christ, the Bonnie Sloan American Legion Post 28, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1693, all in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Hottle Buchanan; a son, Gary Buchanan and his wife, Gabriele; a daughter, Karen Zipp and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Erik Buchanan, Jessica Ashton and her husband, Jared, Andrew Zipp and his wife, Savanna, and Christopher Zipp and his wife, Marie; and great-grandchildren, Conner and Isabella Zipp.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
