Norma M. (Batliner) Striegel

89; of New Albany

— A Funeral Mass for Norma M. (Batliner) Striegel, 89, of New Albany, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

She graduated from New Albany High School and later worked at Brown and Williamson for 19 years. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach Ladies Auxiliary and had served as a Democratic precinct committeeperson for six years.

She was born on March 8, 1923, in Floyds Knobs, to the late Leander and Mary (Stiller) Batliner.

Survivors include her husband of almost 70 years, Raymond E. Striegel; sons, Raymond L. “Pete” Striegel and his wife, Peggy, Richard G. Striegel and his wife, Delores, Ronald J. Striegel and his wife, Libby, Roger C. Striegel and his wife, Barbara, Reed P. Striegel and his wife, Susan; a daughter, Rozalyn S. Wolverton and her husband, Jeff; sister, Georgia Striegel and her husband, W.A. “Buddy”; 24 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Hilda Becht and Earl Batliner; and grandson, Kevin Striegel.

Visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in New Albany will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
