Rev. Dr. Lloyd M. Wright, 86; New Albany

— Funeral services for Rev. Dr. Lloyd M. Wright, 86, New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany, with interment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Albany. He died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his farm home. He died two miles from his birth home.

 He had a great love for his family and the United Methodist Church. He felt if he was to be a good minister he must prepare for it. He wanted a good education. He graduated from Tayler University and Garrett Theological Seminary. He received a honorary doctorate of Divinity from DePauw University. He was a part of a group study at United Seminary in Ohio where he received a doctorate degree in Crisis Management. He served the United Methodist Church as a local pastor, directed the retired ministers fund, council on ministry and then as District Superintendent. He also served 12 years on the board of Global Ministries, 30 years as an Indiana State Police Chaplain.

 Survivors include his wife, Marie Lamb Wright; two sons, David Wright and his wife, Martha, New Albany, and Terry Wright and his wife, Lisa, Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Marilyn Dorton and her husband, Darrel, New Albany, and Marlene Russell, Evansville; grandchildren, Andy Wright, Randy Wright, Sgt. Craig Dorton, Lt. Justin Dorton, Kelsie Wright, Lauren Wright and Lcpl. Christopher Russell; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to  8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
