Funeral Mass for Ruth B. Koetter Book, 88, Starlight, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Starlight, with burial in St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery. She died Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
A lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Starlight, she was a long-time farmer in the community and co-owner of Book’s Dairy Farm. Devoted wife and mother, Ruth leaves a legacy of a faith-filled family life and strong work ethic. She was born Aug. 24, 1925 in Starlight, to the late Julius and Elizabeth Richart Koetter.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William J. Book Sr.; sons, James W. Book and his wife, Sherri, William J. Book Jr. and his wife, Barbara, and Joseph P. Book and his wife, Becky; daughters, Joann Timmons and her husband, Pat, Janet Schmelz and her husband, Jim, Judy Book, Jean Wolfe and her husband, Randy, Karen Morin, Elaine Kruer and her husband, Bob, Theresa Koopman and her husband, Glenn, and Donna Bane and her husband, Terry; sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Kruer and her husband, Jim, Elizabeth “Betty” Sprigler and her husband, Pete, Patricia “Pat” Williams and her husband, Ken, and Carol Caladrino and her husband, Frank; brother, James “Jim” Koetter and his wife, Carol; 35 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sisters, Janet Koetter, Catherine Lucille “Cil” Koerber, and Mary Margaret “Mog” Kruer, brothers, Richard “Dick” Koetter, and John Koetter; grandson, Robert Wolfe; and great-grandson, Kaden Book.
Visitation will be from 12 to 8 p.m.. Friday, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.
