Mabel Wills Bline, Sellersburg

— Funeral services for Mabel Wills Bline, Sellersburg, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg. She died on Good Friday, April 18, 2014.

Mabel was born February 2, 1927, in Bardstown, Ky., to Joseph Melvin and Martha Tennessee (Wills) Lear, the youngest of 10 children. She graduated from Ahrens Trade School in 1945. She served our country as a member of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. Mabel thoroughly enjoyed her work in retail where she made many great friends; working at Ben Snyder’s for many years and retiring from Hess’s Department store in 1989. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mabel is a charter member of Living Waters House of Prayer in Charlestown, where even in the later stages of dementia she could recall and sing hymns and her beautiful smile brightened the front row pew every Sunday for the past three years. She had been singing about angels, and a garden, and heaven for many months and just a few days ago said she was ready.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, James L. Bline. She is survived by her children: Linda Harris and her husband, Paul, Sandra Hurst and her husband, Jerry, James Ferguson, Sonia Joy Goff and her husband, Willis, Michelle Branham and her husband, David; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Special thanks to Diana Jeffery and her entire staff for the excellent care she received as a resident of Jeffery Mini home for three years and Blevins Residential Care Home where she was so lovingly cared for in her final months. The family would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care and help. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Living Waters House of Prayer Building Fund, 1344 Market St., Charlestown, IN 47111.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
