Edward L. Denman

86; Clarksville

Funeral services for Edward L. Denman, 86, Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Howard Park Christian Church, Clarksville, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his home.

 He was born in Kokomo, to the late Edward and Blanche Pallard Denman. He was a retired expediter for Colgate Palmolive, and served with the Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 35 Jeffersonville. He was a member of Falls Masonic Lodge 749, Tri-County Shrine Club, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the Eastern Star. He was a Past President of the Clarksville Kiwanis Club and the Jeffersonville Evening Optimist Club. He was an assistant basketball coach at Bridgepoint Elementary School and Ewing Lane Elementary School. He was a founding board member of the Clarksville Little Generals and a longtime member of the Clarksville Planning Commission. He was a Deacon Emeritus at Howard Park Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Catherine Shelton Denman; three daughters, Terry Burres and her husband, Rich, New Albany, Melinda Atkins, Clarksville, and Cindy Denman, Clarksville; a son, Ron Denman and his wife, Rhonda, New Albany; six grandchildren, Brad Denman, Christie Denman, Eric Burres, Paige Stewart, Torrie Fry, and Mary Catherine Hardin; and five great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, at the  church. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.

Chapman Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
