Alfred Russell Eures, 84; of New Albany

— A Memorial Service for Alfred Russell Eures, 84, of New Albany, was held Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany. Burial will take place at a later date at Dorchester Memorial Gardens in Summerville, S.C. He died Friday, July 19, 2013. 

Russ was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Sebring, Fla. to the late Robert F. and Daisy (Rivers) Eures. He retired after a long and distinguished career as a construction superintendent. Russ was a member of the Omar Shrine Temple in Charleston, S.C., the Kosair Shrine Temple, Moose Lodge 1757, the American Legion Post 35 Bonnie Sloan, and the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach. 

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Ervin) Eures; daughters, Christine Jarrell (Pat), Debbie Hennessy (Billy), and Natasha Graham (Jeremy); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy (Nelson) Eures; and son, Russell N. Eures. 

Visitation was held Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.
