Norvin Ray Stone, 74; of Borden

 A memorial service for Norvin Ray Stone, 74, of Borden, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Borden Community Church. He died Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.  

 He was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Jeffersonville, to the late Dempsie and Golda Stone. He was retired from Sears & Roebuck, a member of Borden Community Church and a former member of the Merry Maker Square Dance Club. He enjoyed wood carving and traveling, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

 He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara Stone; a son, Thomas Stone, of Borden; a daughter, Sandy Thurman and her husband, Jason, of Bloomingdale; three siblings, Bonnie Myers, of Sellersburg, Bob Stone and his wife, Doris, of Jeffersonville, and Janice Phelps, of Canal Fulton, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Noah Stone, Daniel Thurman, Joshua Thurman, Justin Stone and Hannah Thurman.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Ann Stone; and four siblings, Alice Snyder May, Howard Stone, Samuel Stone and Paul Stone.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with cremation to follow.  

 Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
