Alfred D. “Fred” Comer Sr., 75; of Salem

— Funeral services for Alfred D. “Fred” Comer Sr., 75, of Salem, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Salem.

He was born Dec. 29, 1937 in Lawrence County, Tenn., to the late Albert and Etta Hill Comer. He was the widower of Flora Blair Comer, a long-time former resident of New Albany, and worked for  Temple & Temple Excavating Co. until his retirement. He was an Army veteran, member of the Salem Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign War. 

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Cook and husband, Travis; sons, Danny Comer and wife, Karen, and Robert Comer; nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Regan, Nathan, Thomas, Violet, Marshall, Josh, Jennifer, and Kylie; four great-grandchildren, Gaby, Ella, Gracie, and Joslyn; sister, Laverne Martin and her husband, Hollis; and brothers, Jake Comer and wife, Betty, and Morris Comer and wife, Marti.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a brother, Lowell Comer.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
