Melba Rose Meriwether

93; of Georgetown

—  Funeral services for Melba Rose Meriwether, 93, of Georgetown, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Georgetown, with burial in Wolfe Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Beehive Homes in Georgetown.

She was born in Crandall on Jan. 1, 1920, the daughter of Clarence and Beulah Baylor Ehalt. She was a homemaker, and a member of Valley View Golf Course where she was an avid golfer and was the Ladies Golf Club Champion in 1981 and 1985. She was also a quilt maker deluxe and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

Survivors include a son, Ronny Meriwether, of New Albany; a daughter, Carlotta “Carla” Meriwether, of New Albany; a brother, Edward Ehalt and his wife, Mary Jane, of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Chris Meriwether and his wife, Alissa, Keith Meriwether and his wife, Nancy, and Kevin Meriwether and his wife, Pam; and seven great-grandchildren, Hope, Hannah, Kellie, Nick, Jack and Tate Meriwether, and Brittany McCarty.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd Meriwether, a brother, Alvin Ehalt, a sister, Norma Kinder and daughter-in-law, Angela Meriwether.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m.  Wednesday, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Georgetown.
