Helen Alhaus Rieger, 85; of Sellersburg

A Funeral Mass for Helen Alhaus Rieger, 85, of Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sellersburg, with burial to follow in Sellersburg Cemetery. She died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, past President of the Ladies Club, Quilter’s Club and Daughters of Isabella. She was a 4-H leader for 30 years and a volunteer at Clark Memorial Hospital for 15 years. 

Survivors include her five sons, Kenneth Rieger and his wife, Jodi, David Rieger and his wife, Merilee, Wayne Reiger and his wife, Debra, Mark Rieger and Bruce Reiger and his wife, Grace; three daughters, Judy Galyian and her husband, Jim, Linda Lenfert and her husband, Jim, and Marcia Fellows and her husband, Richard; a brother, Paul Alhaus and his wife, Sharon; a sister, Joan McMahan; a sister-in-law, Florence Merrifield; 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Anthony Leo Rieger.

Visitation at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg will be noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Paul Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
