Catherine M. (Miller) Kruer, 96; of Starlight

— A Funeral Mass for Catherine M. (Miller) Kruer, 96, of Starlight, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. She died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.

She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend who leaves a legacy of devotion to her faith, family and community. Her smiling face, gentle demeanor and country cooking willbe missed dearly by her family and friends.

Catherine was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Clark County to the late Louis B. and Anna M. (Yocum) Miller. 

Survivors include her sons, Melvin and his wife, Diana, Norbert and his wife, Joni, Alfred and his wife, Paulette, Michael and his wife, June, and Richard Kruer; daughters, Thelma Bostock and her husband, Larry, Jeanette Williams and her husband, Bob, Arlene Bertrand and her husband, Jim, and Joyce Eyerly and her husband, Mike; sisters, Marcella Weikel and Dolores Popp; 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Kruer; a daughter, Margaret Schindler; a son, Kenneth Kruer; grandchildren, Timothy and Katrina Kruer; and sisters, Irene and Marie Miller and Rita Geraghty.

Visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in New Albany will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 4 p.m. 

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 8310 St. John’s Rd., Floyds Knobs 47119.
