David Escue Tomerlin Sr.

81; Clarksville

— Funeral services for David Escue Tomerlin Sr., 81, Clarksville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Louisville. 

   He was born on Dec. 8, 1932 to the late Escue and Geneva Tomerlin. He retired as a District Sales Manager for Orgill Brothers Hardware Store and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was past president of the McCullough Optimist Club and past president of the Greater Louisville Bowling Association. He was a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.) where he served on their advisory board. In 2005, he was recognized as Volunteer of the Year and in 2007, as Top Recruiter. He was a member of the W.O.W. Group (Widow or Widowers) and an active participant for the last 15 years in the Senior Games and was an avid bowler.

   He is survived by his two children, David E. Tomerlin Jr., and Vickie T. Aschbacher and her husband, Richard; two sisters, Dorene Stopher, and Ruth Chaffins; four grandchildren, David Lee Tomerlin, Windi Lyn Lawrence, Shawn Linton, and Kyle Tomerlin; and six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Parker, Karoline, Elijah and Brody.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Tomerlin; and two siblings, Juanita Skipper and Pete Tomerlin. 

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.        

   Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Life Span Resources.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
