Dr. Robert J. McKechnie

82; Jeffersonville

Memorial services for Dr. Robert K. McKechnie, 82, Jeffersonville, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Walnut Street Baptist Church, Louisville. He died Monday, June 30, 2014, with family present.

He was a proud partner of Havens Medical Group of Jeffersonville and devoted his life to being a Physician for 53 years. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge Clark 40. During his 53 years of medical practice he served as the Clark County Health Officer and started the Well Baby Clinic. During his time at the University of Louisville Medical School he was President of his medical class and the Woodcock Society. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor McKechnie; five children, Ruth Fejfar, Robert Scott McKechnie  and his wife, Virginia, David Kellar McKechnie, Susan Majuri and her husband, Ilpo, and Brian McKechnie and his wife, Lois; brother, John McKechnie M.D. and his wife, Kay; six grandchildren, Dustin Fejfar and his wife, Tonya, Katherine Johnson and her husband, Mathew, Sara Majuri-Cipolla and her husband, Dominic, Samantha Majuri, Sofia Majuri and Mathew McKechnie; and five great-grandchildren, Samuel Fejfar, Rachel Fejfar, Luke Fejfar, Ella Mae Johnson and Maggie Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Edna Scott McKechnie.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the church prior to the service.

Expressions of sympathy can take the form of contributions to Walnut Street Baptist Church, Hosparus of Southern Indiana, University of Louisville or University of Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
