Funeral services for Robert A. Megenity, 82, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Denbo Funeral Home, English, with burial in Highfill Chapel Cemetery, English. He died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home.
He was born March 24, 1930, in Crawford County to George Hester Megenity and Helen Jane Gilliatt, both deceased. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy. He was a member of VFW Post 1693, New Albany, and American Legion Post 28, New Albany. He was a retired linotype operator in Fort Knox, Ky. He was a wonderful son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his family, traveling and was an avid IU basketball fan. He attended Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church in English.
Survivors include his son, Christopher “Shawn” Megenity, of Georgetown; a daughter, Julie Nifong and her husband, Bryon, of Jeffersonville; brothers, Douglas Megenity, of Jeffersonville, Victor Megenity, of New Albany, and Mark Megenity, of English; grandchildren, Kasey and Taylor Megenity, of Georgetown, Kaitlyn and Abigail Johnson, of Jeffersonville, and Gabriella, Jonathon and Max Fleeman, of Sellersburg; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nikki Fleeman, and sister, Sherry Megenity-Fish.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 12 and after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
