Sister Marie Kevin Tighe

Sister Marie Kevin Tighe, 89, Terre Haute, died May 19, 2014, in Mother Theodore Hall at St. Mary of the Woods.

She was born in New Albany on Aug. 23, 1924, to Edward J. and Anna Buche Tighe. She entered the congregation of the Sisters of Providence on Jan. 7, 1942 and professed final vows Aug. 15, 1949.

In 1996 she became promoter of the cause for the canonization of Mother Theodore Guerin, a project she led to completion in 2006.

She also wrote reflections of the post-Vatican II church. This was published in 2009 with the title “Arch, Steeples and Dome: Symbols of a Journey of Faith.”

Sister is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Prisca Day, Edith Tighe, Alice Carnes, Mary Russell and Ruth Waters; and a brother, Paul Tighe.
