Alan Chester Eaton

71; Sellersburg

Funeral services for Alan Chester Eaton, 71, Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, followed by burial at 3 p.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Olean. He died, going home to his Heavenly Father, Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

He was born Feb. 19, 1943 and was the son of Chester and Lena Eaton. He was a gentle man who loved God and his family, who tended our Lord’s earth and added beauty to all he touched. He graduated from Purdue University and worked at Walnut Ridge Greenhouses as a Licensed Landscape Architect. He was a member of Christ’s Community Church of Nazarene and was also a member of the Gideons International Floyd County Camp U13247.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Judy L. Eaton; son, Timothy Eaton and his wife, Pam, Borden; daughter, Kathi Charlson and her husband, Steve, Richmond, Va.; stepson, Allen Wilkirson and his wife, Anita, Louisville; grandchildren, Kynda Eaton, Jamie Smith, Journee Smith, Kevin Wilkirson, Sean Wilkirson, Adam Wilkirson, and Amanda Wilkirson; sisters, Martha Jean Jarvis, Patsy Hyatt and her husband, Jimmy, Cross Plains, and Alice Gray and her husband, Leon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

 Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
