Funeral services celebrating the life of Maxine Howerton, 84, Jeffersonville, will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.
She was born on April 30, 1929. She earned a master's degree in counseling from Indiana University Southeast and a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Louisville, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa. She worked as both a teacher and counselor, but was also a painter, golfer, avid reader, lover of horses, and Louisville Cardinals' fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Howerton; three sons, Gary Howerton and his wife, Dianne, John Howerton, and Daniel Howerton and his wife, Lynn; a brother, Gerald Munich and his wife, Shirley; and four grandchildren, Lauren Howerton, Christina Howerton, Tracey Howerton, and Steven Howerton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Howerton, and her brothers, James Munich and Donald Munich.
Visitation will proceed the service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
