Howard ‘Junie’ Tungate Jr., 80; New Albany

— Funeral services for Howard “Junie” Tungate Jr., 80, New Albany, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, New Albany. He died, going to be with the Lord, on Monday Feb. 10, 2014.

He was born Jan. 16, 1934 in Bradfordsville, Ky. to the late Howard Sr. and Anna Mae Bright Tungate. He loved his family and wife of 57 years, Violet. He was a master welder and steel fabricator for many years and formerly worked at Prudential Heating & Cooling. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and loved his pets and the outdoors. “Junie” will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.    

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Violet Cochran Tungate; three children, Kathy L. Ott and husband, Larry, Jim Tungate and wife, Kim, and Mike Tungate; six grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Cody and Conner Tungate, Barbara Grose, and Robin Hunchman; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Faith, Justus, Ethan, Keegan, Ashton, Colin, and Maddie; sister, Anna Mae Geary; and several nieces and nephews.                

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and after 8 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
