Mary Amelia Becht Spainhour, 77; Floyds Knobs

— Funeral services for Mary Amelia Becht Spainhour, 77, Floyds Knobs, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

She was born May 3, 1936 in Floyd County to the late Anthony and Cora Becht. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service and made many friends on her route. She adored her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary of the Knobs Church. She loved traveling with trips to New Orleans and Las Vegas among them. Mary had a green thumb and loved working in her flower garden.  

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald Spainhour; children, Ronald  Gregory and his wife, Jane, Glenn Dennis and his wife, Nancy, and Patrick Richard and his wife, Cindy; brother, Anthony “Junie” Becht and his wife, Margaret; grandchildren, Patrick, Dustin, Laura, and Katelyn Spainhour, Dora Beatrice, Jennifer Gordon, and Matt Balmer; and great-grandchildren, Lilly Spainhour, Andrew, Daniel, Xavier Beatrice, and Madison Balmer.  

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Pam Henize.

Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
