Shirley Miller Krick

73; Corydon

— A memorial service for Shirley Krick, 73, Corydon, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Corydon United Methodist Church, 214 Elm Street, Corydon. She died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

She was a school teacher who also loved to travel. One of her first teaching positions was in Iceland. She also taught in New Albany, Louisville, Massachusetts and New York. She was a graduate of Indiana University and New Albany High School. She attended several different United Methodist churches over the years, where she was actively involved in Missions and teaching Sunday school. She loved reading murder mysteries and trying out new recipes.

She is survived by her husband, Les Krick, Corydon; son, Tim Krick, Chicago; daughter, Barb Steinmetz, Seattle; sister, Sharon Jenney, Sellersburg; uncle, Glenn Linnert, New Albany; stepbrother, Chuck Sarles, Indianapolis;  stepsister, Barbara Voyles, Greenville; and stepsister, Cynthia Bush, Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Omar Miller; mother, Irma Miller Sarles; stepfather, Orrin Sarles; and her stepbrother, Orrin S. Sarles.
