Margaret Ganley ‘Maggie’ Read

90; of New Albany/Middletown, Ky.

— Funeral services for Margaret Ganley “Maggie” Read, 90, of New Albany and Middletown, Ky., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Spring Street Chapel of Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville,.

 She was born July 17, 1922 in New Albany, to the late John and Margaret Leist Ganley. She was a 1940 graduate of New Albany High School, retired office manager from the old Indiana Insurance Agency in New Albany, and a catholic by faith.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Kelly Alvarez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Read, her sister, Gerry Ganley Heckaman, and her brother, Jack Ganley.  

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

  Margaret’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Village East Assisted Living Center in Middletown, Ky. and the nurses in the palliative care unit at Baptist Hospital East.
