— Funeral services for Charles G. Powell, 73, of Greenville,  will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Louisville. He died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.

He was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Adair County, Ky., to the late George H. and Sallie Cheatham Powell. He was a retired supervisor with the Brown-Williamson Co. in Louisville and also retired from the Pillsbury Company in New Albany. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a member of the Louisville Coin Club and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.  

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sandra L. “Sandy” Taber Powell; two daughters, Karyn L. Owens and Leigh A. Caudill and her husband Darin; five grandchildren, Brittany M. and Ryan T. Owens, Morgan R. Mercer, Zachary and Jacob Caudill;  one great-granddaughter, Jessilynn L. Owens; brother, Forrest Lynn Powell and his wife Jackie; a sister, Chrystine Overcash and her husband Charles; and several nieces and nephews.

Reception of friends and family will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 10, at the funeral home.
