James L. Hall Sr.

79; Clarksville

Funeral services for James L. Hall Sr., 79, Clarksville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at his home.

He was a retired truck driver for the old Graco Cartage, and a police, fire, and safety commissioner. James was a member of Teamster Local 89 and former Ohio Valley Rescue Squad. He was a team bus driver for Jeffersonville High School and deacon of his church at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a native of Jeffersonville.

He is survived by his wife, Alice E. “Betty” Hall, Clarksville; son, James L. “Jimmie” Hall Jr., Clarksville; daughters, Denise E. Poyner, Wickenburg, Ariz., Janet A. Hauber, Clarksville and Beth L. Kampschaefer (Kurt), Floyds Knobs; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Francis Hall; mother, Muriel (Hall) Hudson; brothers, Bob Hall, Carl Hall, Albert Hall, and Bill Hall.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30,  and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
