Alliene F. (Kelly) Schneider

87; Edwardsville

— A funeral Mass for Alliene F. (Kelly) Schneider, 87, Edwardsville, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany. She died  Aug. 1, 2013. 

She retired from the Census Bureau after 21 years of service, was a former 4-H leader, and was also a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany. Alliene enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing cards and attending the local church picnics. 

Alliene was born on March 2, 1926, in Harrison County to the late William F. and Nola A. (Reneau) Kelly. 

She is survived by her children, Patrick D. Schneider (Melinda) and Elizabeth A. “Beth” Schneider; daughter-in-laws, Barbara (Peavler) Schneider and Becky (Leahy) Schneider; grandchildren, Kimberly Carney (Pat), Michelle Popson (Paul), Sarah Johnston (Scott), Matthew Schneider and John Brandon, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo J. Schneider; sons, Alan F., Gregory L. and Michael J. “Mickey” Schneider; siblings, Arthur, William, Robert, Claude, Elizabeth Kelly, Georgia Stonecipher and Blanche Jordan.  

Visitation will be from 12 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Kindred Health and Rehab Center in Sellersburg for their kindness and care of Alliene over the last few weeks.
