Robert M. Varner

84; New Albany

— Funeral services for Robert M. Varner, 84, New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, New Albany. He died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.

  He was a native of Floyd County, and was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters Union 631, and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his son, Robert W. Varner and his wife, Sue, Georgetown; a brother, Paul W. Varner, New Albany; two sisters, Mary Jane Kopp,  and Pam Seiferid, both of New Albany; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Kopp Varner, and a son, Jeffrey L. Varner.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
