Maurice King

66; of New Albany

Funeral services for Maurice King, 66, of New Albany, will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Charlestown Road Chapel of Kraft Funeral Service, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. He died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

He was born June 14, 1945 in New Albany to the late William and Minnie Yeager King. He was a customer service specialist with Ameritech for  32 years until retirement and was a member of Northside Christian Church. His memberships include: Lifetime Demolay, Past President and lifetime member of Pine Ridge Bowhunters, Past President of New Albany Jaycees, Past President C.W.A. Local 4703,  Kentucky Colonel by Gov. Martha Lane Collins, Lifetime member SAL Squadron 28 Bonnie Sloan Post #28 American Legion, Past SAL District 8 Commander, Red Cross Blood Donor supporter donating 21 plus gallons, and V.A. Hospital representative and supporter.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carolyn S. Byrns King; children, Mindy McKnight and her husband, Larry, of Clarksville, Misty Legg and her husband, Dwayne, of Clarksville, and Shawn King and his wife, Amy, of Floyds Knobs; five grandchildren, Chad and Logan Shears, Aaron and Lauren McKnight and Austin King; and one great grandchild, Bristal Shears.

He  was preceded in death by his parents and two great-grandchildren, Braylen and Bryson Shears.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The Wounded Warriors Program or Relay for Life Program.
