Thelma Lucille Duffy McNutt, 95; Charlotte, N.C.

— Funeral Mass of Christian burial for Thelma Lucille Duffy McNutt, 95,  Charlotte, N.C., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30,. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Charlotte, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte. She died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at her son’s residence in San Antonio, Texas.

 She was born to James and Mabel Duffy on Aug. 30, 1918 in New Albany.  She was a resident of Charlotte, N.C., and a member of St. Gabriel Parish since 1964. She was a bookkeeper prior to her marriage, and during World War II. She was an extraordinary mother and homemaker, and a devoted wife of 64 years.

She is survived by sons, Steven, Phil and his wife, Cathy, and Paul and his wife, Sandra; and daughters, Ann Marie Jones, Betty Clerkin and her husband, Tom, and Judy Black and her husband, Bill.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Virginia Carrico; brother, James Duffy; husband, Eugene C. McNutt; son, John E. McNutt; and two infant grandsons.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, at Harry and Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Visitation will be until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
