Barbra Louise Fitzgerald, 73; Elizabeth

— Funeral Mass for Barbra Louise Fitzgerald, 73, Elizabeth, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Elizabeth, with burial in St. Peter’s Catholic Church Cemetery. She died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

She was the former Barbra Adkins, a native of Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Elizabeth, where she was a member of the women’s club and a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dayton, Ohio. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, and beloved mother, grandmother as well as an adoptive mother and friend to many foreign exchange students and their families from all over the world.

Survivors include three sons, Stephen Francis Fitzgerald (Allison Ducra), Clarksville, Daniel William Fitzgerald (Jennifer Kelty), Louisville, and Master Sgt. David Thomas Fitzgerald (Amanda Weston)  USAF, Turkey; five grandchildren, Virginia Colleen, Samantha S., Sydney A., Evelyn M. and William E.; and brothers, William I. Adkins, Jr. (Lee), and Stephen Adkins, Dayton, Ohio, and Patrick Adkins, New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Fitzgerald, grandson, Anthony D. Fitzgerald, and parents, William Sr. and Carolyn Adkins.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
