— Funeral liturgy for Elizabeth “Babe” Munchhof, 94, Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Feb. 27, 2014,  with family at her side.

Babe was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Harrison County, to the late Conrad I. and Katherine E. Tice Walter. She was the widow of Henry J. Munchhof who died in 1983 after 37 years of marriage and happiness.  Babe retired from L&N railroad in 1976.

Babe was a dedicated volunteer and her life was lived serving others. Babe began serving others as a volunteer to the American Legion as well as LifeSpring, Interfaith Deaf Relay, Serenity Inc., Metro United Way, Meals on Wheels, Community Kitchen, American Cancer Society, Interfaith Community Council, St. Augustine’s Children’s Day Out and many many years at Clark Memorial Hospital. Babe dedicated more than 7,500 hours serving others.

She is survived by her brother, Anthony “Tony” Walter; many nieces, nephews, friends, and a very strong volunteer family. Although Babe did not have any children of her own, for anyone who knew and loved her, we all had our “Babe.”
