Funeral services for Jimmie Gertrude King, 77, of Laconia, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon, with burial in Old Goshen Cemetery. She died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.
She was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Harrison County, to the late Simeon and Myrtle Saulman Kingsley. She was retired from Harrison County Hospital where she was a ward clerk for 28 years, was a former employee of the Louisville Chair Company for 17 years, was a member of Union Chapel Christian Church and the Laconia Lion’s Club, and was a Boone Township Trustee for 16 years.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin M. King Sr.; her sons, Melvin M. King Jr. and his wife, Lori, and Gary W. King and his wife, Linda; grandchildren, Jamie Newman and husband, Dallas, Brittany Evans and husband, Nick, Justin King and wife, Katie, and Ashley King; great-grandchildren, Dillon William Crawford, Dawson Bradley Crawford, Elizabeth Lee Evans and Katelyn Grace Evans; brothers, Joseph Kingsley and wife, Odie, and Walter “Rex” Kingsley and wife, Pam; and her sisters, Lena Mae Ferree and husband, James, Linda Birdwell and husband, Eddie, Katherine Knear and husband, Ralph, Beverly Eisenmenger and husband, John, and Debbie Dones and husband, Jesse.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Laconia Lion’s Club Scholarship Fund.
