Rev. William E. Thompson

94; of Jeffersonville

— Funeral services for Rev. William E. Thompson, 94, Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Christ Gospel Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died  Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born March 9, 1918, in Rehoboth Beach, Dela. He was a retired minister and farmer. He met his wife, Ann, on the school bus 81 years ago, and they have been together ever since. They dated through high school and college and were married after both had graduated. They were married for 70 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Agriculture. He also served four years in the Navy and in WWII. He enjoyed crosswords and other word puzzles and scrabble games. He also enjoyed hunting rabbits and squirrels. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to speak to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to church. He loved to sing and play both the piano and organ.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Thompson; two sons Robert and his wife, Bonnie, and James and his wife, Jeanne; four grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and four siblings.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday,  at the church.
