Thelma L. Phillips Hammond

85; of New Albany

— A funeral Mass for Thelma L. Phillips Hammond, 85, of New Albany, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, New Albany. She died  Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Azalea Hills in Floyds Knobs.

  A long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, she was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3281 Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved flowers and tending to her garden. Devoted to her family, she supported her grandchildren in all they did. She was born Nov. 10, 1927 in Lexington, Ky., to the late James Phillips and Christine Lang Phillips. 

She is survived by her daughters, Suzi Deem and her husband, Patrick, Tina Walts and her husband, Stephen, and Lisa Koetter and her husband, Bruce; sister, Minnie Beyl; grandchildren, Patrick Jr., and Brian Deem and his wife, Erin, Shannon Metcalf and her husband, Rick, Stephen Walts Jr. and his wife, Lauren, Elizabeth Andres and her husband, Richie, Kristina Misamore  and her husband, Travis, and Jake Koetter; nine great grandchildren; niece, Laura Crowley and her husband, Chuck; and great niece, Caitlin Crowley.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Newcomer Funeral Home , New Albany. A Rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
