Funeral services for Harry Monroe Tretter, 84, of Georgetown, will be at noon Friday, Feb. 22, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Georgetown. He died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care-Indiana Creek in Corydon.
He was born in New Albany, on July 13, 1928, the son of Harry Frank and Fanny Alvina Tretter. He was a union brick layer, was a Kentucky Colonel, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Byrnville Church of Christ and VFW Post in New Albany.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Lois BeDell Tretter; two sons, Harry Mark Tretter and his wife, Terri, and Charles Elmer Tretter, both of Georgetown; a daughter, Betty Jo Shepherd and her husband, Richard, of Depauw; three brothers, Gordon E. Tretter, of Jeffersonville, and Steven and Gary Tretter, both of New Albany; three sisters, Donna Nelson, of Panama City, Fla., Sue Power of Greenville, S.C., and Josie Hoke, of Georgetown; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and after 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
