Steven O.”Steve” Crain, 53; of New Albany

Funeral services for Steven O.”Steve” Crain, 53, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Adams Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville with burial to follow at Bowery Cemetery with military graveside sevices conducted by the Sellersburg American Legion. He died Sunday, April 21, 2013.  

He was born Aug. 24, 1959, in Chicago, and was the son of Daniel R. Crain Sr. & Joyce Lee (Reese) Crain, both of Jeffersonville.

Steve was a 1978 Jeffersonville High School graduate, where he was the runner-up in state gymnastics. He served in the United States Army for 12 years, where he was a well-decorated sergant, commanding troops in Desert Storm.

He was employed at Riverton Trucking in Sellersburg and was awarded Driver of the Year. He enjoyed hiking, camping, target shooting and loved to joke around. 

Steve married Leslie (Dunlevy) Crain on April 22, 2000, in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Along with his wife he is survived by a brother, Daniel R. (Bonnie) Crain Jr., of Corydon;  sister, Lois (Todd) Fishman, of Jeffersonville; his mother-in-law, Aliene Dunlevy, of Sellersburg; two nephews, Danny (Elizabeth) Crain III and Phillip Crain, both of Corydon; a niece, Emily Fishman, of Jeffersonville; two great-nephews and two great-nieces.

 Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
