Dr. John E. Coffman Jr.

86; New Albany

A funeral Mass for Dr. John E. Coffman Jr., 86, New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. He died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at his home.

  He was a U.S. Army veteran and former member of American Legion Post 28, New Albany. He was a podiatrist in New Albany for many years and was a life member of both the Indiana and American Podiatrist Associations, life member of the Redman Club, was a loyal volunteer for the Floyd County Democrat Party and served on the Horseshoe Foundation. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, St. Mary’s Men's Club, served on the Pastoral Council and devoted innumerable hours helping at the church in many different capacities.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Patricia Coffman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert L. “Sonny” and Mona Voignier; nieces and nephews, Tammy Sadighi and her husband, Abraham, Timi Coleman, Paul Eugene Coffman Jr. and his wife, Sue, Tara Lynn Coffman Koerber and her husband, Robert, Susan Elaine Coffman Chepa and her husband, Hollis, Tracy Ann Coffman, (David Book), Sharon Canary, Rebecca McCoy, Patricia Franklin and her husband, Ed, and Garry, Larry and his wife, Diane, Terry and his wife, Carol, and Jerry and Barry Ginkins; friend, Forrest Byrne; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita M. Voignier Coffman; parents, Grace E. Bell and John E. Coffman Sr.; sisters, Colleen Coffman Ginkins and Roberta Coffman; and niece, Edna Rose Ginkins.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

It was John’s desire that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 420 E. Eighth St.,, New Albany, IN 47150.
