Emory ‘Steve’ Stephens, 95; New Albany

— Funeral services for Emory ‘Steve’ Stephens, 95, New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany, with interment and military honors at Edwardsville Cemetery, Edwardsville. He died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care – Wedgewood, Clarksville.

  He was a native of Sandy Hook, Ky. and was retired after 55 years as a self-employed barber. He was a Charter member of the old Eastside Church of the Nazarene and presently a member of Christ Community Church of the Nazarene. He taught Sunday School for more than 40 years. He was an Army Veteran of World  War II.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma D. Williams Stephens; two sons, Benjamin  T. Stephens and his wife, LaVerne, Jeffersonville, and Phillip Mark Stephens, New Albany; four brothers, Lester, Herbert, Addie Earl, and Junie Stephens; three sisters, Enone Mays, Alfie Stephens, and Christine Jordan; three grandchildren, Beth Summers, Amy Stephens, and Brad Stephens; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terry E. Stephens.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Christ Community Church of the Nazarene.
