77; Charlestown

— Funeral services for Leonard Joseph Eickholtz, 77, Charlestown, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Charlestown, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. He died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1936 to John Henry and Anna May Schafer Eickholtz in Charlestown. He was a lifelong farmer, a pilot, and a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Michael Catholic Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bischoff Eickholtz; sons, Stephen Eickholtz and his wife, Delores, Charlestown, Johnny Eickholtz and his wife, Betty, Charlestown, and Chris Eickholtz, Charlestown; daughters, Susan Lewis and her husband, Dan, Charlestown, and Joanne Burbrink and her husband, Nathan, North Vernon; brothers, Richard Eickholtz and his wife, Pat, Raymond Eickholtz and his wife, Juliann, and Denis Eickholtz and his wife, Phyllis; sisters, Rita Hamerla and her husband, Don, Agnes Withers, Clara Calvert and her husband, Don, Dorothy Dunn, and Mary Shields and her husband, Tom; sisters-in-law, Barbara Eickholtz and Annemarie Eickholtz; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lennie Eickholtz, and brothers, Henry and Frank Eickholtz;

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, and after 9 a.m. Monday, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown.
