Samuel Robert Spalding, 85; of Clarksville

Funeral services for Samuel Robert Spalding, 85, of Clarksville, will be at noon Thursday, April 4, at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at home with his family by his side.    

 He was born in Springfield, Ky., and a retired welder from Precision Automation. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was a friend of Bill W. & Dr. Bob. 

He is survived by five children, Samuel Robert “Bobby” Spalding II and his wife Anna, of Louisville, John Spalding and his wife Jennifer, of Louisville, Debbie Licht and her husband John, of Beaver Dam, Ky., Gwen Norsworthy, of Louisville, and Susan Bibelhauser and her husband Bob, of Louisville; a sister, Kathleen Bolton, of New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Norsworthy, Sam Bibelhauser, Brigid Bibelhauser, Daniel Spalding, Anthony Spalding, Lauren Spalding and Olivia Spalding; two great-grandchildren, Alizabeth Norsworthy and Jayce Norsworthy; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Spalding; and a grandson, Alan Norsworthy.  

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
