Gilbert Lee ‘Mac’ McIntyre, 86; of New Albany

A Funeral Mass for Gilbert Lee “Mac” McIntyre, 86, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany, with burial in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park. He returned to his Heavenly Father Monday, April 8, 2013. 

Mac was born in New Albany on Oct. 31, 1926, to the late Arthur and Georgia McIntyre. He was in the Army and served in the Pacific during World War II. He retired from the old International Harvester after 30 years of service and was a member of the International Union. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1693, Hobart Beach. Mac was also a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was an avid football and basketball fan and his favorite team was Indiana University. 

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Evelyn A. (Thomas) McIntyre; cousin, Pat Murphy; brother-in-law, Irvin Thomas and family; his very special friend, Diane Shaver, who is his POA, caregiver, and angel from Heaven, and her husband, Bill and their daughter, Alexis; his dear friends, Greg and Patty Henderzahs, Barry and Monica Hoke, and Debbie Decker. 

Special thanks to Father Ken for all his prayers and visits to the hospital to see Mac. 

Visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in New Albany will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
