Amos Casey

82; Sellersburg

Funeral services for Amos Casey, 82, Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Sellersburg Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the Bennett House, New Albany.

 He was born June 14, 1931 in Henryville, to the late Seymour and Anna Casey. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He co-owned and operated Sellersburg Auto Service in Sellersburg, with Don McRae. He is a 50 year member of the Buckner Masonic Lodge and a member of the VFW.  .

Surviving include a son, David Casey and his wife, Mary Beth; granddaughter, Kara Marr and her husband, Jason; grandson, Michael Casey and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Eli; sisters,  Harriet Meyer, and  Helen Spaulding; brothers, Williard and Franklin Casey; and special friend, Geneva Dreyer

 He was preceded in death by wife, Maxine Casey, sisters, Virginia Linn and Ruby Casey, and brothers, Melvin, Leonard, Charles, Irvin and Roy Casey.

Amos was a wonderful father who showed a distinctive love to his family, country, and community. We are grateful for the wonderful care and support from the Bennett House. 

 Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
