Funeral services for Melvin D. Martin, 76, Floyds Knobs, will be at noon Friday, Sept. 13, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013.
He was born Aug. 27, 1937 in Paris, Tenn. to the late Henry and Josephine Adams Martin. He was the widower of Mary Kay Martin who died in 2006 and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was the retired owner and operator of U.S.A. Expedite Transportation and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Tim Martin and wife, Robin, Kimberly Apple, Tanya Wallace and husband, Mike, and Mark Neher and wife, Janie; two brothers, Daniel Martin and Dale Martin and wife, Dee; 12 grandchildren, Waylon, Briana, Miranda, Devon, Tyler, Lauren, Matthew, Matt, Jeremy, Shelby, Katie and Nathan; one great-grandchild, Jayden; and special friend and caregiver, Betty Shorter.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
